Leclerc had already traveled to Ferrari before, including several rounds at Monza earlier this year, but he predicted that his first test as an official driver would be “emotional” and “special” experience.
He started by setting the fastest time in the first four hours of the day on Wednesday, which will continue for another five hours, until 6:00 pm (local time).
Leclerc rose to the top of time in the second hour with a circle of 1: 36,938, and then several times decreased by two hundredths of a second, remaining ten times slower than during the invasion of Sebastian Vettel.
The 21-year-old driver was even sooner after noon, scoring 1: 36,559, almost three-tenths less than Vettel’s, although under unknown conditions of weight and configuration.
Like Leclerc, Pierre Gustie is testing one of the three current F1 teams, because he was driving a Red Bull, with whom he will compete in 2019.
Gusti, who last piloted Red Bull in August 2017 tests, set the second best time, being 1s4 slower than Leclerc after improving at four o'clock.
Lance Stroll, not yet confirmed, but the expected driver of Racing Point Force India, reappeared in the team after it entered pink for the first time.
The walk set the third fastest time, improving, like the first two, in the afternoon and remaining 0.070 seconds past Gusta.
Valtteri Bottas continued during the second day of tests at the control of Mercedes and was the fourth fastest after the first four hours.
Daniil Kvyat first got behind the wheel of Toro Rosso since he was fired after the US Grand Prix in 2017. Russian finished the top five, 2.3 seconds behind Leclerc.
His compatriot Artem Markelov took the sixth place with Renault, and Luis Deletras made his debut in Formula 1, and Haas became the seventh, with the best time of 1: 40,153 recorded in the second hour.
This left him two dozen new McLaren Carlos Sainz, who completed the first kilometers with the Woking team.
Antonio Giovinazzi replaced Kimi Raikkonen with Sauber and was the ninth fastest, ahead of Robert Kubica, who did not set the representative time in the morning and left his teammate for 2019, George Russell
