This was announced by the generals in a statement.

The managing director of the general hospital, Enrique Ortega, explained that at the moment they are “at the stage of presenting, testing and implementing this work tool that will be useful to patients, specialists and the health care system.” “The route will begin to be developed in the form of a“ pilot project ”, and this year it will be extended to all our medical centers,” he added. This route will ensure that every action related to the treatment of this pathology is covered in a general and coordinated manner in order to achieve the best possible care with the maximum level of scientific evidence and achieve the best quality of life for the patient.

The head of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Department of the General Hospital Carlos Sanchez indicated that in his office in 2018 there were more than 33,000 patients with type 2 diabetes. “The problem is that in many cases this disease goes unnoticed and if we stick to the data on the prevalence of our environment (approximately 13.8% of the adult population), we will have almost 20,000 people who do not know that they have diabetes "He said.

From there, he continued: "The importance of early detection is to try to control a disease that may go unnoticed, but may cause complications if it is not diagnosed at an early stage."

The primary care physician, Carlos Borras, explained that coordinated work will always be beneficial for both patients and professionals as the clinical approach improves, duplication is avoided, we know that Each of the professionals creates a more pleasant working environment, and information is transmitted and is organized.

Deputy Director for Primary Care José Luis Gonçalvez and Deputy Director of Primary Care José Manuel Jimenez added that by defining the functions of professionals in each of the processes of care for these patients, the Meeting of the same at different evolutionary moments of the disease and continuity of treatment will to favor.

The development of a treatment route for type 2 diabetes in the department of the General Hospital of Valencia began in early 2017, based on the idea of ​​“treatment routes”, the goal of which is to create, with common chronic diseases, a new patient-based model of care.

The route was coordinated by the Primary Care Directorate, and was attended by primary care physicians, endocrinologists, nurses, social workers, clinical analysis specialists, pharmaceuticals, nephrologists, ophthalmologists, vascular and computer surgery, and others.

To create it, meetings were organized for more than 40 specialists of the department in 5 working groups that considered various situations related to caring for people with diabetes 2, from primary care to a hospitalized patient and various circumstances. it can happen with a chronic illness like this.
