A group of Israeli scientists say they will have a cure for cancer within a year.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the treatment is being prepared by the company Accelerated Evolution of Biotechnology, a drug development company established in 2000.
"We believe that in a year we will offer a complete cure for cancer," said Dan Aridor, chairman of the board of AEBi.
“Our cancer treatment will be effective from day one, last for several weeks and will not have or will have minimal side effects at a much lower cost than most other treatments on the market,” Aridor added. "Our decision will be both general and personal."
The treatment is called MuTaTo, which stands for a multipurpose toxin and is intended for an anti-cancer antibiotic. MuTaTo uses several cancer-targeted peptides for each cancer cell at the same time, in combination with a strong peptide toxin that kills cancer cells, according to Lent.
“We made sure that the treatment was not affected by mutations; cancer cells can mutate in such a way that cancer destroys target receptors, ”said Dr. Ilan Morad, CEO of AEBi. “The likelihood of having multiple mutations that could modify all target receptors simultaneously decreases dramatically with an increase in the number of targets used.
“Instead of attacking the receptors one at a time, we attack the receptors three at a time — even cancer cannot mutate three receptors at the same time,” Morad added.
AEBi is about to begin clinical trials that will complete in a few years. “Our results are consistent and repeatable,” said Aridor.
