In Kiev, on Tuesday, January 29, in honor of the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Kruty, activists of the National Corps and "national teams" held a torchlight procession. The event started on Lviv Square at 18:00 from the monument to the Heroes of Kruty and gathered more than a hundred participants.
The activists marched down Mikhailovskaya Street to Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, then along Khreshchatyk Street through Grushevskogo street they came to Askold's grave.
Note that in the center was limited traffic, so as not to interfere with the movement of the column.

The protesters lit torches and fires, and went to the place of burial of young idealists, who took up arms more than 100 years ago to hold back the Russian aggressor and protect the independence of Ukraine.
The event took place without incident, some bystanders even joined the activists in a solemn procession.

Recall that today Ukrainians remember students and cadets who heroically died in battle with the Red Army at Kruty in 1918. Then the young heroes entered into an unequal battle with the Bolshevik troops, restraining their advance on Kiev.
During the battle, 29 young men were captured and executed by the Bolsheviks. Despite the defeat, the cadets nevertheless fulfilled the task that they faced – they kept the brutal offensive of the Bolshevik troops against Kiev.
The tragic event in which the loyal patriots of Ukraine perished actually changed the course of history and approved the right of Ukrainians to the independence of their state.
As previously reported, an employee of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance in a comment for Styler reminded about the importance of the memory of this event. He also talked about the lessons of the Battle of Kruty for the Ukrainians today.
We also wrote that the other day in Ternopil, in the cells of the former KGB remand prison, where the museum of political prisoners and repressed is now located, 25 young people voluntarily imprisoned themselves for 24 hours to commemorate the Kruty Heroes.
