A BOLA – Frederico Varandas defeats Luiz Filipe Vieira on the eve of the derby (Sporting)

In the editorial article of the next edition of the Sporting newspaper, to which BOLA had access, Frederico Varandas launched a tough attack on Luiz Filipe Vieira, this is the next Sunday the Alvalade derby is marked between Sporting and Benfica.

The leader of the leonine club guarantees that he will abide by the rules and allocate the usual seats in the Benfica Directorate at the Alvalade Stadium Tribune, but “he refuses to promote any specific initiative that the current president of Sport Lisboa e Benfica is present at.”

And he begins with an explanation: “Sport Lisboa e Benfica, as a result of some kind of dirigisme, which had long since been eradicated from Portuguese football, needs transformation, but not to personalize all the troubles and shame in Paulo Gonçalves” (… ) Last week, his president publicly conveyed what he wants to do immediately for his “football”: condition, restrict, prevent and punish the freedom of action of arbitrators and independent bodies such as the Arbitration Board. "

Frederico Varandas also points to various lawsuits in which the opponent has participated recently, which states: "There is a suspicion of a violation of the sporting truth."

“No one in Portugal ignores and cannot ignore the serious facts that have occurred. And no one denied and could not deny so many disgraces that came to the public, so many strange deeds, so diverse deeds, so many grotesque examples that reveal a course of action that can never be taken in a civilized country, ”says President Sporting ,

“Let us know how to preserve what is good and, courageously, wherever it is, whatever club it is, eradicate the last culture of the“ old dirigisme, ”that the caudillo and vassalism will end, and that more and more we can all fight for fairer and healthier competition in fair competition. ”

"Us and football

Sporting Clube de Portugal respects and wants to respect all other Portuguese football clubs, and, of course, Sport Lisboa e Benfica is part of this lot.

Unfortunately, at the moment Sport Lisboa e Benfica, as a result of dirigisme, which had long since been eradicated from Portuguese football, does not need to be transformed, but not to embody all the evil and disgrace in Paulo Gonçalves. This problem should be taken seriously, especially given the unambiguous presidential approach that characterizes the management of this rival.

By the way, even last week his president publicly conveyed what he wants to immediately “his” football: condition, restrict, prevent and punish the freedom of action of arbitrators and independent bodies such as the Arbitration Board.

It was just another regrettable episode to join the others. And no matter what can never be fully clarified or proven, no matter what is not repaid, litigation continues with a common element that no one, be it a club or in Portuguese football, is suspected of violating the TRUTH.

We do not go and do not want to go into the internal problems of other clubs, but no one in Portugal ignores and cannot ignore the serious facts that have occurred. And no one denied and did not deny so much shame that came to the public, so many strange deeds, so diverse deeds, so many grotesque examples that reveal a course of action that can never be taken in a civilized country. We believe that in all clubs, and, of course, we have included Sport Lisboa and Benfica in this conviction, there are people who want transparent, honest and decent professional football, and we believe that the responsibility of ALL is to protect King Sports in Portugal.

There is wear and tear, moral decay, but decay and destruction are also at different levels that predict the end of the cycle in dirigisme. As in all centenary institutions, there are always references, there will be awareness, and, sooner or later, we believe that there are efforts and opportunities for revival. But this task is not ours, it is an ethical and, perhaps, even the historical duty of others, and not ours. But for us, in accordance with the principles and values that we defend, with a demand that we do not refuse, it is impossible to ignore the reality of what still exists today.

Sporting Clube de Portugal will institutionally receive Sport Lisboa e Benfica in Alvalade, following the rules, appointing regular places on Sunday in a certain area of the Tribune, but refuses to promote any specific initiative that relies on the presence of the current President Sport Lisboa and Benfica.

We believe that the best Portuguese football is possible. It is possible to have one of the best leagues in Europe, if the leading Portuguese clubs are really imbued with common sense and, for example, take solid steps in this direction.

Throughout its history, Portuguese football has given its clubs, teams, athletes, coaches numerous demonstrations of quality and many tests that need to be overcome. Let's fight for the fact that football has the best. Let us know how to preserve what is good, and with courage, no matter where it is, whatever club it is, eradicate the last culture of "old dirigisme", that the caudillo and vassalage will end and that we can all fight for more fair and healthy competition in fair competition.

The fact that in conditions of freedom and security for all sports agents, in a relaxed atmosphere and without fear, in fair competition, that the players play, that the coaches train, that the judges make decisions, that the leaders give instructions, that the journalists report, and that the fans can to have the honor of having a positive, complete football, better and better, with the best practices and values that sport should have. If UEFA tells us everything: “We care about football,” then it should be understood once and for all that Portugal is in Europe in this country, Portugal is the European title champion, and Portugal is the best player in the world. that we have responsibilities, that we have to set an example, that we are included in this “We” and that “WE” care about football.
