FIFM presents its official selection.

The Marrakesh International Film Festival (FIFM) presents its official selection. From November 30 to December 8, 2018, participants in festivals and film lovers will open 80 films from 29 countries, divided into several sections: “Official Competition”, “Gala Sessions”, “Special Sessions”, “11th Continent”,, “ Panorama of Moroccan cinema ", the section" Young audience "," Screenshots Jemaa El Fna "," Cinema in Audio description "and section" Tributes ".

14 films will be on the run to win the Gold Star of Marrakesh as part of the “Official Competition” of this 17th edition of FIFM. The first or second feature film, which confirms the priority of the festival in the search for new talent in world cinema. It is also an eclectic selection that highlights several cinematic universes from different regions of the world with 4 European films, 3 Latin American films, one American film, two Asian films and 4 films from MENA.

The author’s six major films, with first-class premieres, will be shown at festival festivities. At the opening of the 17th edition of the festival offers "At the Gates of Eternity," a wonderful "biography" dedicated to the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. Also in the program: a preview of new films by respected filmmakers, such as Valeria Golino (Italy), Alfonso Cuaron (Mexico), Peter Farrelli (USA), Abu Bakr Shoki (Egypt) and Nadine Labaki (Lebanon).

In the section “Special Sessions” a wide range of films from different horizons will be presented (Norway, Nigeria, Colombia, Kenya, …). In total in this section 6 films will be shown.

“11th Continent” is the name chosen for the new section of the festival. This allows the public to open 14 feature films and documentaries with unique and innovative works by bold filmmakers from Thailand, Lebanon, Croatia, etc.

This edition of the festival also puts the Moroccan cinema in the spotlight with a highlighted section. Panorama of Moroccan Cinema will present a selection of seven recent Moroccan films with the aim of presenting various aspects of Moroccan cinema to international professionals and media present at the festival.
Thus, the festival opens a new program dedicated to young people. On the bill: world famous animated films and classics.
