Xylem, the government of Ethiopia is working together to solve water problems.



RYE BROOK, NY, NOV 20, 2018 – Xylem Inc., the world's leading provider of water technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Ethiopian Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Energy (MoWIE) for future cooperation to help improve water safety in Ethiopia.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at an event in Ethiopia, which was attended by His Excellency Dr. Eng, Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy of Ethiopia. Seleshi Bekele; State Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Dr. Negash Vageso; President and CEO of Xylem, Patrick Decker; and a representative of the US Embassy in Ethiopia.

HE. Dr. Eng Seleshi Bekele noted that this Memorandum of Understanding between Xylem and MoWIE provides a favorable platform for improving the provision of water and sanitation services and ensuring the sustainability of schemes. He also stressed that the Ethiopian water supply and sanitation sector is using the broad technical and technological solutions that Xylem provides.

President and CEO of Xylem, Patrick Decker, spoke about how the company was honored to have the opportunity to start exploring solutions for the region, in particular, not earning water, sharing knowledge and improving water and energy efficiency to maximize resources and reduce environmental impact,

“This research partnership is a chance to strengthen our working relationship with the ministry and build on positive conversations around the optimization of water systems, energy supply, water supply and sewage, as well as creating a foundation that can help promote Ethiopia’s water sector in the future,” Mr. Decker said.
