Deportivo Alaves is set to pay cash in Wakaso in January

Ghana's midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is reportedly one of the possible departures from Deportivo Alavesh to pave the way for Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.

According to GOL Digital, Babazorros El Glorioso will dump Ghana's internationals to fund its application for Merino.

Wakaso, 28, was in great shape for the club side in the ongoing campaign after having made 9 appearances to help the Mendizorrotza tutor to 4th place in the league magazine, but with great interest Getafe forces the club to sell the midfielder.

Deportivo Alaves coach Abelardo Fernandez was told that he must get rid of some players in order to receive funds and make room in his team for Merino.

The former player of Newcastle United, an attacking midfielder in Anoete, was hit by injuries that prevented him from playing with continuity, but when he did, he became Asir Garitano's key player.

Wakaso joined his team-mates in training, playing a major role in Ghana in their 2-0 win over Valias in Ethiopia in the 2019 African Cup qualifying tournament.
