Deputy Culture Minister Abdullah Bakkada said that the Arab region is subject to conspiracies and is facing serious dangers, stressing that culture and art are the basis for creating people and are able to resist any abnormal or extremist thought.

This took place during a symposium organized by the Cairo International Book Fair at its 50th session, entitled Culture and Art for Peace, on Wednesday evening, in which Bakdad participated with the Deputy Minister of Culture of Yemen Badr Al Sali and Dr. Wissam Basendoh, a human rights activist from Yemen in the field of political rights and freedoms. In turn, Dr. Aisha Al Awlaki, cultural adviser to the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo, expressed her joy at participating in the Cairo International Book Fair and commended the good organization and great efforts made by Dr. Inas Abdel-Dyem, Minister of Culture for the success of the Cairo Book trade fairs.

“Egypt is the radiant and the heart of the Arabs, and today we will participate in the exhibition to talk about something that is created by the current conditions in Yemen. Culture and art is the refinement of the human soul, hence our initiative, culture and art for the sake of peace. ”

For his part, Badr al-Sali, Deputy Minister of Culture of Yemen, said that the Yemeni people have a long history of civilization, and in the light of the difficult circumstances facing the Arab world in general and Yemen in particular, the importance of spreading a culture of peace arises, and everyone knows that we live in an era of technological war and cultural war, which requires that the community, family and government join their efforts, that young people do not reject and do not turn to radical thought.

"I believe that culture and art play an important role in the light of the dangers faced by the Arab peoples, and I suggested that the Minister of Culture of Yemen convert the name of this symposium into a national project."
Al-Salih stressed the importance of preparing for cultural wars as more dangerous than wars of arms by educating and enlightening youth in order to save generations from the bog of extremism and terrorism, noting that the cultural sector includes many important arts that play an important role in achieving peace.
For his part, Nabil Abdulhafiz, the Deputy Minister for Human Rights of Yemen, said that the spirit of culture is human rights. “We really need to know where people have come so that we can live together. After the end of World War I, the world realized that more than 60 million people died. "We have come up with many youth initiatives to consolidate the values ​​of peace among young people, women and all sectors of society, and since women are in the ranks of terrorism, there are others who carry the banner of peace."
“Although many people believe that Yemen is occupied with war and bombings, our embassy in Cairo seeks to remind us that culture and art are the cornerstone of the world,” said Yemeni author and legal expert Wissam Basanduh.
