Highland – It is reported on the season of acute respiratory diseases. In the 46th calendar week, seven percent of patients joined the Vysochinsk region, the disease for the first time in the upcoming season exceeded the threshold of nine hundred patients and reached 921 patients per 100 thousand inhabitants.
Six percent of patients in the Czech Republic last week and 1021 cases per 100,000 people are currently in the country.
True flu viruses have not yet appeared in the highlands. “But the diseases associated with flu-like symptoms and complications in viral diseases caused by viruses that do not cause the flu are beginning to appear,” said the director of the anti-epidemic department of the Vysochina Health Department, Alena Dvorzhakov, about the latest development of acute respiratory diseases.
From the point of view of individual districts, in mid-November, the highest cases of the disease in the Pelhřimy area (990 cases) and in Trebic (965 cases), hygienists in both areas recorded a similar increase in incidence, as in the whole region. It is noteworthy that by twenty percent the incidence in Havlíčkův Brod increased last week, but it remains below the national average (899 cases). Even lower in Jihlava, where, after nine percent growth, the last 870 patients were converted to 100,000 people. Žďársko reported a third percent decrease in incidence last week to 907 cases.
A year ago, on the 46th week, there were 829 patients, in 2016 – 703 patients, and in 2015, the disease was 813 cases per 100 thousand.
From the development of the incidence in mid-November, the evolution of the upcoming flu season cannot be reliably predicted, but, to tell the truth, a year ago, the highest flu epidemic hit the entire Vysochinsk region over the past few years.
This year is still a good time to vaccinate against influenza, which should protect mainly populations at risk, such as, first of all, the elderly and people with poor health. “Also this year, the quadrivalent vaccine is intended for vaccination to protect against two strains of influenza A and two strains of influenza B. There are two types of this vaccine,” Dvorakova recalled.
Last year, in the Highlands, seven women and four men between the ages of 59 and 90 died of the flu. Six of them contracted type B influenzae, five influenza A.
