Traders have statistics for sending data on sales and sales once or twice a month by the size of the chain. CZSO data can be used to determine the prices of goods and their development. At first, he wants to use it mainly to control the prices of food products that often change in various discount events.
Next year, data will begin to supply the first large food supply chain, for example, CSO made a deal with Ahold (Albert stores) or COOP stores, which are mainly active in rural areas. In the coming years, these data should provide about 20 of the largest retail chains based on income and market share. He intends to make deals with a turnover of several billion crowns a year. The system can also be extended to pharmacies, pharmacies or hobby markets.
Data want good
“We did not interfere with the strong resistance of the large strings,” said Sixsta. According to him, the Office’s goal is to harmonize the voluntary provision of data. However, he noted that in accordance with the EU Directive and the Czech rules, the chains are obliged to provide this data upon request. A unilateral violation threatens with a sanction of 100 thousand crowns, however, according to the vice-chairman, a more important factor is the possible damage to the good name of the chain if the data refused to provide it.
Price data have not yet been received by the Authority in chain reports or by interviewers interviewed directly at retail outlets. In stores that will provide data from systems, interviewers will no longer walk.
“In the food industry, prices are changing rapidly, interviewers do not lose their reputation. People also change their consumer behavior at a price, for example, at the best price they can buy more in stock, ”commented Jiří Mrazek, director of the CZSO pricing department. Thanks to the data of cash systems, the statistics will contain more accurate data on the prices of individual foods, for example, that their time was observed with butter or potatoes with increased attention.
Statistics show that they need different data in a different form than the state receives through the Electronic Income Register (EET).
Amendment also welcomes CNB
Statistics show that with the new method, the price development of some products in comparison with the current method may vary depending on percentage points. But the impact on overall inflation will be no more than ten percent.
The first year of operation is to check and correct any errors. Data will be encrypted. Statisticians do not expect false data from sellers; they will check data from other sources. “If we suspected a leak, we cannot talk about it, we are obliged to maintain confidentiality,” said Sixth.
The new method is also welcomed by representatives of the National Bank of the Czech Republic. “It will clarify the calculation of inflation data, more detailed data will be used by our analysts,” said the head of the monetary department of the Czech National Bank Peter Kral. Better statistics will strengthen the mandate of the World Cup on monetary policy.
According to the chairman of the Czech Traditional Trade Association and the head of COOP, Zdenek Juračka, large data warehouses should not have problems or additional costs.
Product data has long been growing in statistics, for example, in Norway or the Netherlands, and, for example, such systems also exist in Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Slovenia. Other countries, including Slovakia, are preparing this change.
