NEW JERSEY – Three staff at a hospital in New Jersey are fired after learning that more than 3,000 people could have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.
According to the Surd-Brooke Surgery Center Health Plus, three of its employees were laid off for improperly sterilizing instruments. Health Plus is now facing the first lawsuit.
The surgical center recommended that patients who underwent surgery between January and September should be given blood tests, although the risk of infection is low.
To date, 186 patients have been tested, and only one of them tested positive for hepatitis.
