The injured woman, who died as a result of a crash in northern Edmonton on Wednesday evening, was killed after being hit by a second car, the driver of which fled from the scene, police say.
The collision occurred around 7:30 pm. when the 38-year-old victim was hit by a black Toyota Corolla, when she crossed 127th Street from 127th Avenue. The driver of the Corolla remained at the scene.
“While the pedestrian remained injured on the road, the second car, a sedan, also hit the pedestrian, but did not stay in place,” police spokesman Cheryl Sheppard said on Thursday via e-mail
The woman died at the scene.
No charges have been filed, but the police urge all witnesses to face.
According to the police, the investigation remains active and continues.
These are the 20-year-old Edmonton traffic and the eighth pedestrian death rate in 2018.
