Ottawa, November 29, 2018. The Food Refund Warning issued on November 28, 2018 has been updated to include additional product information. This additional information was identified during a food safety investigation by the Canadian Food Inspection (CFIA).
The chef’s warehouse recalls tahini’s Soam products from the market due to possible salmonella pollution. Consumers should not consume recalled products described below.

What should you do
If you think you are sick of consuming the withdrawn product, consult your doctor.
Check if you have withdrawn the food in your home. Revoked products must be thrown away or returned to the store where they were purchased.
Contaminated food Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but it can still hurt you. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems can become infected with serious and sometimes fatal infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications can include severe arthritis.
This review was inspired by the findings of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) during its investigation of an outbreak of foodborne illness. The CFIA is conducting a food safety study that could lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are withdrawn, the CFIA will notify the public through updated product return warnings.
