The woman posted on her Instagram account a video of a cooked rat in a bread bowl, which was served to her at Crab Park Chowdery.

After publishing the video, the restaurant received many calls and messages, and Vancouver Coastal Health is constantly investigating. Moreover, the second diner, Mamie Taylor, will be closed as a result of the incident.

Vancouver Is Awesome talked to Ashton Phillips, owner of Crab Park Chowdery, who says he doesn’t understand how it happened.

“We are constantly trying to understand how this happened. We guarantee that everything is clean and we adhere to food safety measures developed by Vancouver Coastal Health, ”he said.

“Yesterday, she posted a photo at 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon, but did so after we gave her a $ 100 gift certificate. We talked immediately after she found a creature, and it seemed that we were on friendly terms – since then I have not been able to get her. ”

He also noted that the cook who worked during the incident is extremely upset.

“I completely trust her – she has been here for a year, and she’s awesome. In addition, the bucket we use for digging is an eight ounce bucket – this rat was about six inches long, and it simply does not stack. ”

Phillips adds that the negative reaction to the video was incessant when people gave one terrible review after another.

Vancouver Is Awesome also spoke to Tiffany Akins, public relations leader, Vancouver Coastal Health, who explained that the soup itself was not prepared at Crow Park Chowdery.

“The soup is prepared by Mamie Taylor, and then sent to Crab Park Chowdery.” Thus, we conducted an investigation into the case of Mamie Taylor and found signs of rodents – there was a litter, ”she explained.

“The establishment was closed and will remain closed until it is brought into compliance with the norms. However, the Crab Park Chowdery will remain open. ”

While Crab Park Chowdery will not be able to use Mamie Taylor's to cook their soups, they have a food truck in which they are allowed to cook. Given this, the restaurant stated that it is currently looking for another commercial kitchen to use. ,
