One dead, two injured in Nisku welding workshop, explosion



One person died and two were injured after an explosion at the Nisku welding shop on Thursday.

Police responded to the blast at Ja-Co Welding and Consulting around 8:15 am, according to a press release from RC Leduc.

A 40-year-old man was found dead at the scene. The RCMP said they would not release his name.

Paramedics brought two patients to the hospital with serious injuries, Alberta Health Services reports. One patient is in a critical, life-threatening condition, and the other is in a stable condition.

Police said they did not care about public safety, but it was recommended that people stay away from the area at 1304 8th Street.

Alberta police, firefighters and employees at the Alberta Health and Safety Department are conducting an investigation at the scene.
