Burlington, Ontario – The Walk Off the Earth band from Burlington, Ontario, announced the death of keyboard player and vocalist Mike Taylor.
In a message on various social networking sites on Sunday evening, the group says that Taylor died "peacefully from natural causes last night in a dream."
His colleagues in the group express their “deepest condolences” to Taylor’s two children and ask for privacy for his family.
“With deep sadness, we announce the death of our beloved brother and band member, Mike“ The Bearded Guy ”Taylor,” the report said.
"Mike had an unsurpassed love of life, and the desire to give it went beyond the ordinary means."
Burlington Mayor Marianne Mid Ward also expressed her condolences on Twitter, calling the death of Taylor a “tragic loss.”
“Condolences of our city are expressed to Mike's family, friends and colleagues in the group. We think of you, ”wrote Mid Ward.
“Walk off the Earth” was founded in 2006 and became famous in 2012, when their cover version of “Someone I previously knew” Gothia became viral.
A YouTube video for the song, in which all five band members simultaneously play the same guitar and sing in harmony, has collected over 185 million views.
The band was scheduled to start a world tour in 2019 with a New Year show in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Monday evening.
A spokesperson for “Walk off the Earth” says that they will not perform, but the show itself, in which Sheepdogs and Burton Cummings also participate, will continue.
