Local police charged with violating driving as a result of an incident while on duty



A Waterloo regional police officer was charged in a misconduct incident on charges of driving misconduct.

A WRPS press release states that an employee, a 17-year-old employee of the service, was charged in connection with the December 23 incident.

Police report that the OPP of Brant County received a message about an unstable driver near the Grand River North in Paris.

As a result of the investigation, Sergeant. Jason Bonikovsky was charged with driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80.

He is to stand trial on January 17th.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service says it will not disclose any information, since the case has been submitted to the court.
