How to register for a closed alpha anthem on PS4, Xbox One and PC

Perhaps so far it does not look like it, but 2019 is just around the corner, and with the new year comes the next wave of large video games.

One of the first games of this coming wave is Anthem, a huge new online game from people who brought you the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises.

It’s about to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 22 – still a few months later – but EA offers an early chance to play the alpha game this December.

Even better: it is absolutely free!

Oh yeah? Yeah!
BioWare / EA

Playing the game is as easy as logging into your existing EA Online account right here, selecting your platform and confirming your choice.

It is noteworthy that this is not the final version of the game in which you can play. This is an early "alpha version" of the game, which means that it is close to – but still quite far from – the game, which will start in February. Since Anthem is an online game, EA uses alpha as a means of testing its server capacity, as well as a means of testing the game itself with fans.

So when can you play alpha? Soon! It is designed to work on weekends on December 8 and December 9 with various sessions for two days. You will need Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus if you want to play alpha on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, and be careful that whatever platform you choose, you cannot select multiple platforms with a single EA Online login.

To taste what you experience in the alpha anthem, watch this very long video:
