If there is one archaeological find that turns the world at the head, it will be the discovery of the lost city of Atlantis. Many searched for the remains of a mythical language, but no one came close to finding it, and researchers who claim to have found it in the past ended up wrong.
Now, having at its disposal a set of high-tech hardware, a company called Merlin Burrows believes that she may have finally determined the place where the city once stood. Needless to say, you should take everything you read from now on with a lot of salt.
Thousands of years ago, Plato wrote about civilization, noting that its incredible technological advances and wealth have no equal and that the city was eventually destroyed by some terrible event. No one even knows whether Plato really wanted his works to be taken as documentation about the existence of the city, or if he simply sewed up yarn to serve as a warning about the danger of excess, but this did not stop many people from searching for Atlantis.
Merlin Burrows, who calls himself a land and sea search company specializing in finding "forgotten or hidden" things, is ready to publish a documentary film about what he says, maybe finally, proof that Atlantis was real.
Speaking with Live Science, Merlin Burrows CEO Bruce Blackburn says his company used satellite data to comb the area, which, according to the group, was the site of a thriving city. Their work began many years ago, and, according to Blackburn, the place was chosen on the basis of the works of Plato, as well as other texts.
The place, which is located near the coast in the Spanish National Park of Doñana, was subsequently found for clues. Merlin Burrows says that it was then that the company found what, in its opinion, remained from the temples and towers. Acquaintance with the material, which is considered early concrete, suggests that he was from 10 000 to 12 000 years, which would correspond to the approximate period when, as they say, Atlantis exists.
This is hardly the first time that a group has announced the discovery of Atlantis, and even for the first time, researchers have suggested that the remains may be located in this particular place in Spain. However, Marilyn Burroughs says his upcoming documentary called Atlantic will put questions to rest.
With so many false “finds” in the past, the archaeological community as a whole is quite outdated at the discoveries of Atlantis. If this is really the proof that we all have been waiting for, it will be an incredible achievement, but for now we will need to cross our fingers.
