A Niagara police officer was brought to Hamilton hospital in serious condition after being shot dead by another police officer in Pelham, Ohio, the provincial police watchdog code.
“SIU can confirm that it is investigating the interaction between two officers of the Niagara Regional Police and the gunshot wounded by one of the officers,” the Special Investigation Team tweets.
SIU says the spokesperson is going to the scene and will receive additional information in the early evening.
The Niagara police said Thursday in Thursday that "an incident involving members of the NRPS occurred in Pelham.
"The officer was taken by paramedics from the scene with injuries."
The statement does not describe the nature of the incident. Pelham is a rural area southwest of St. Catharine, Ont.
“Since SIU is involved, we are prohibited from providing additional information at this time,” the statement said.
SIU said in an earlier twitter that he was investigating a “police shoot” when an officer was seriously injured.

The CIU is a military body that investigates reports of the police, where the death occurred, serious injury or sexual assault charges.
Ornge Air Ambulance reported that the man was being transported by helicopter from St. Katharina Hospital to the Hamilton trauma center in critical condition.
