1 dead, 3 in hospital after the crash of an ambulance-SUV on highway 16



One person died and three others are in the hospital after a head-on collision between an ambulance and an SUV in Manitoba.

The crash happened early Thursday between Neepawa and Gladstone

One person died and three others are in the hospital after a head-on collision between an ambulance and an SUV in Manitoba.

The ambulance brought the patient to Winnipeg from Nepal at about 5:30 am on Thursday, when an accident occurred on Highway 16, said the emergency medical services director at Prairie Mountain, Louise Stitt.

The SUV driver died, said RCMP Cpl. Julie Courchene, noting that "visibility and poor road conditions" in the area.

According to Stitt, two health workers and an ambulance patient are in a hospital in Nipawa.

Manitoba Highway reopened part of Highway 16 between Nipawa and Gladstone from Provincial Road 352 to Road 74 to the north, which was closed after the accident.
