Up to 3 years, 16,500 households in the capital, which are heated by solid household fuel, will help the municipality replace it with gas, steam or pellet stoves.

Sofia municipality is ready with 2 projects. One of them was submitted for approval in the EU, and several municipalities participated in it. This is about 16.6 million euros. The pilot will replace the installation of 140 households. They will switch to heating with gas, steam, electricity or pellet stoves. A large-scale project is also being prepared under the Operational Program “Environment”.

“55,000 households in Sofia heat up on solid household fuel. Our goal is to replace the installations of 30% of these families for up to three years, ”explained Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.

She checked how the filter was installed on the chimney of the BCS building in the Krasna Polyana area. The company donated 10 filters to the municipality. The cost of one is 3500 leva. According to the data, filters reduce emissions by about 80%.

Fandakova talked with social minister Beizer Petkov that help in heat supply should include alternative sources so that support for families whose settings will be replaced will continue.

From April to October in Sofia there was not a single day with an excess of fine particles. The heating season has come, and we have already registered an overrun, ”Fandakova said.
