Police find contradiction in testimony of surviving group that allegedly poisoned drink | Sao Paulo

The police Vinicius said that on Friday (15) he left Cracolandia in the center of São Paulo. From there, he walked to Barueri Center, a 27 km drive. He stated that he was carrying a bottle in his backpack and did not touch it. According to police, Vinicius said he slept in a dormitory until Saturday morning (16). And on Saturday at 7:30 he took a bottle to the square and gave a drink to his colleagues.

SP2 He was in the hostel and found a contradiction. The director did not record the interview, but said that Vinicius usually sleeps in the house. But he did not go there on Friday. The information will be analyzed by the police. A bottle of liquid in which four people died was collected by an expert on Saturday.

According to police, the original contents of cachas sold in bottles of the same type are transparent. The drink that was inside is yellowish. The experts shared the samples and will try to find out in the laboratory whether the drink was poisoned or mixed with the killer in less than ten minutes.

Attorney General Judge São Paulo will appoint a member of the Public Prosecutor (MPE) to accompany the investigation.

On Saturday morning, the victims were in the town square on Campos Salles Avenue when they drank liquid from a bottle of alcohol. At least six people in the group were homeless.

Five personsbeing one woman and four men, she enters the city hospital with symptoms of intoxication (dilated pupils, body tremors and tachycardia). One of the victims still has a head injury, probably as a result of a fight. Their health status is considered regular and stable.

Four men, who were part of the group, died shortly after drinking a drink on Saturday morning. The bodies were on Flag Square. Among the victims, two were homeless.

Delegate Anderson Pires Giampaoli, the head of the Barueri police station investigating the case, said he would hear a report from survivors later this morning to find out the origin of the drink. The case was recorded as an alleged death to be clarified.

At least four hypotheses cleared by the police to find out if the deaths were caused by crime or death:

  • One hypothesis is that merchants could give a bottle of poisoned drink to a group that lives on the streets for revenge. Traders and victims reportedly argued earlier because they occupied the region, disrupting trade.
  • Another hypothesis is that, according to reports of the Barueri Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), one of the survivors said that last Friday strangers gave him a bottle of alcohol when they were in Cracandia, central Sao Paulo, known for drinking and trafficking drugs. Krakolandiya is 25 km from the square in Barueri, where the group was located.
  • Another hypothesis comes from the witness. She told TV Globo that the drink was delivered to a group in Barueri by people in the car. The investigation prompted the security cameras to try to establish who brought the bottle of drink to the people in the square. As of Monday, the police did not identify the suspects in the images.
  • If it were fatal, the victims would mix drugs with drugs and alcohol and would look like an overdose. The possibility that the group consumed fake alcohol and intoxication is not ruled out.

Barueri Police Station, which is investigating the causes and possible responsibilities for the incident, asked the Science and Technology Police to analyze the liquid in the seized bottle and indicate what killed the victims.

The bottle was delivered to the Institute of Forensics (IC) in São Paulo for analysis to determine the content of the substance present in the drink.

Causes of death will be confirmed by the Forensic Institute (IML). The Toxicology Center analyzed the corpses to determine what killed them through a necroscopic examination.

Exam results can take up to a week.

“We need to clarify whether we are facing a fatal outcome or a crime that resulted in these people being victims of poisoning,” said Anderson's deputy Piraeus Jampaoli.

Six out of nine people who became ill after drinking toxic alcohol slept at Barueri Municipal Dormitory on Friday night.

“They leave the hostel between 6 and 7 in the morning, go to the nearby square and get sick by drinking this drink,” the delegate said.
