In search of a crashed plane, which also included professional football player Emiliano Sala, investigators found two seat cushions that belonged to the car. Parts were found on the beach near the village of Surtainville in France. A 28-year-old newcomer to Cardiff City and a pilot went missing for about a week.
"From a preliminary review, we concluded that these were probably the seat cushions of the missing plane," the British Aviation Accident Council (AAIB) announced on Wednesday.
Search continued by private means
The search for Sala and the pilot, which had already been interrupted by the authorities, was most recently continued by private means. According to British media, the Argentinean family raised more than 300,000 euros in donations through a crowdfunding site.
The single-engine propeller, which a 28-year-old boy wanted to fly from French Nantes to Cardiff in Wales, disappeared from the radar screens on January 21 over the Channel Tunnel. Sala himself had previously expressed concern in a voice message that the plane might crash.
