A glittering half century, Matthew Wade helped lead Hobart Hurricanes Stair 7-169 against the Adelaide strikers in Launceston. Inform Wade hit 88 of 54 balls on Thursday night in the Big Bash League clash, but hurricanes fell off late, losing 5-19 in the last four overs. Skipper Hobart, who hit eight boundaries and two sixes, gave life to 40 when he was lowered in the outfield by Michael Neser from Ben Laughlin. Wade also rolled the ball on the 86th, which had to be taken before Laughlin (3-31) hit the next ball in front of the next ball.
After the hurricanes were sent to the UTAS stadium, Wade shared a 59-meter stand with Arsi Shortt, who was captured from Loughlin on 26 of 19 balls. Hurricanes looked at the track for a huge score, until the Strikers took a break late.
Afghan spinners Rashid Khan and Neser raised two wickets each. Adelaide player Jake Lehmann, who missed 15 shots, left the field in the final with a finger injury.
The sixth-ranked attackers summoned Harry Nielsen, Cameron Valente and Wes Agar to the side, which was much worse than Sydney's Sixth.
