Despite the drop in temperature recorded by rains last night in large areas of the metropolitan area, the number of families without electricity today remains high. According to the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ENRE), in the federal capital and suburbs of Buenos Aires, just over 71,000 households were left without electricity, with Edesur being the company with the most affected customers. Yesterday there were 110 thousand affected users.
According to updated data received from ENRE as a controller, 21,413 users did not have services in the Edenor concession area. The affected areas are the northern part of the federal capital, as well as Escobar, Las Heras, General Rodriguez, Hurlingham, José S. Paz, La Matans, Moreno, Pilar, San Fernando, San Miguel, Tigre, Ituazingo, Merlot, Tres February Malvinas Argentine Islands and San Martin.
In the meantime, Edesur increased the number of affected customers to 49,760. The areas with a large number of cuts are located in the southern part of the great Buenos Aires: Almirante Braun, Lomas de Zamora, Avellaneda, Quilmes, Canuelas, Esteban Etcheverria, Berazategui and San Vicente.
The controlling authority explained that the supply reduction is due to the high consumption in the service product of high temperatures recorded in the last three days. Yesterday, for example, was marked by 45 degrees of wind in the metropolitan area, and the number of houses without electricity exceeded 100 thousand.
The fundamentals of public education indicate that the Argentine Electrical Interconnection System (SADI) required 26.113 megawatts of power (MW) when the temperature reached 35.6 degrees and approached the historical record on February 8, 2018, from 26,320 MW.
However, nothing explains the lack of investment in distribution companies, despite the fact that rates were applied consistently during the reign of Mauricio Macri under the pretext of improving the situation. In fact, the cost of the service has grown higher than any other price of the economy, not counting the fact that, according to the government, the cumulative growth for this year will be 50 percent.
After the change of courts, hundreds of people staged yesterday numerous street protests that swept the capital and the province.
To date, the National Meteorological Service has updated the orange warning, warning of the health effects of high heat. This organism anticipates a hot day with temperatures that will rise from 25 to 34 degrees during the day.
