The man who sells the Big Issue magazines on Cape Town’s windy streets was shocked by the kind gesture of local musician Jeremy Olivier and his family.
Olivier has known Bongani Folo for many years, and they often greet him as they drive past him down the street in Nordhoek.
Olivier Nicole's wife told News24 that she promised Folo a car five years ago, after he showed interest in her.
“Last week on Friday, we were able to get a new car thanks to our sponsors from the Netherlands, and the next day we delivered the old car to Bonga,” she said.
Folo was delighted with his new car, but admitted that he thought that they would simply offer him a discount on the car.
“I never thought I would get a car for free,” he said.
Jeremy Olivier added that the donor, who wants to remain anonymous, offered Bonzhani to help with insurance for a year.
Olivier gained fame on the local music scene when he finished second in his debut season. Sound SA,
