Commercial space provider NASA SpaceX is focused on 1:38 pm. EST Tuesday, December 4, to launch its 16th mission for the supply to the International Space Station. Direct coverage will begin on NASA and on the agency’s website on Monday, December 3, with campaign events.

The Dragon spacecraft will carry supplies and payloads, including critical materials to directly support dozens of more than 250 research studies, which will be performed by the crews of the 57th and 58th space station expeditions.

Among the studies that he brings to the station, Dragon’s leaky trunk carries a robotic refueling mission-3 (RRM3) and a global study of ecosystem dynamics (GEDI). RRM3 demonstrates the storage and transmission of cryogenic fluid, which is crucial for space movement and life support systems. While in stage 2 (RRM2) of the Robotic Refueling Mission the tasks leading to the refrigerant replenishment are implemented, the actual transfer of the cryogenic fluid to orbit will be carried out for the first time using RRM3 using liquid methane. The GEDI will produce high-quality laser distance measuring of the forests and topography of the Earth, necessary to promote an understanding of the important carbon and water cycling processes, biodiversity and habitat. Located at the exponential site of the Japanese Experimental Module, GEDI will provide the first observations of a high vertical structure with high resolution on a global scale.

The dragon will reach its pre-orbit approximately 10 minutes after launch. Then he will deploy his solar panels and begin a careful choreographic series of firing with a maneuvering engine to reach the orbital laboratory two days later on Thursday, December 6th. When he arrives, the commander of Expedition 57, Alexander Gerst from ESA (European Space Agency) and flight engineer Serena Anunon, Chancellor of NASA, will grab the Dragon. Anne McClain from NASA will help the duet, controlling telemetry during the approach of the Dragon. After the Dragon is captured, the ground controllers will send commands from the mission control in Houston so that the station lever will rotate and install the spacecraft at the bottom of the Harmony station module.

The Dragon spacecraft will spend about five weeks on the space station. The dragon will remain at the orbital outpost until January 13, when the spacecraft returns to Earth with the help of research and return cargo.
