European gossip: Manchester United exit 'in the balance', Cristiano Ronaldo makes Bruno Fernandes admission

The Premier League transfer rumours mill is still swirling as the days count down until the European transfer window slams shut.

Paul Pogba, Christian Eriksen and Alexis Sanchez's futures remain up in the air ahead of the September 2 deadline.

Whilst Manchester United's Chilean flop seems destined for a loan move to Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Juventus are still pondering a move for Pogba or Eriksen.

Similarly, Premier League clubs have already begun their preparations for the January window.

With that in mind, here's a look at the latest rumours and gossip from across Europe ..

Sanchez move in the balance

Alexis Sanchez's loan move from Manchester United to Inter Milan is in the balance, according to The Mirror.

Alexis Sanchez of Manchester United

The Chilean's miserable time at Old Trafford looks to be coming to an end this summer.

Although Inter are keen on a deal, they're less unhappy to take on the full amount of Sanchez's 400k-a-week wages.

United are also trying to iron out a potential deal for the Italian club to make the deal permanent, should he impress on his return to Serie A.

Ronaldo reveals fernandes confusion

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted he doesn't know why Bruno Fernandes hasn't left Sporting Lisbon.

The Portuguese playmaker was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

However, a deal never materialized and Ronaldo has revealed he is confused as to why Fernandes hasn't tested himself at a higher level.

"In the national team you have Cancelo, Bruno Fernandes, who nobody knows why he doesn't leave," Ronaldo told TVI.

Lemina to seal AS Monaco move

Southampton outcast Mario Lemina is on the verge of joining French outfit AS Monaco.

According to RMC Sport, the 25-year-old has now agreed personal terms with Monaco ahead of a potential loan with an option to buy.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Wolves all registered an interest in the former Juventus man before the window closed, but a deal was never agreed.

He now looks set to join former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas at the heart of the French side's midfield.

Forster to rejoin celtic

Fraser Forster's Southampton nightmare is over, with the goalkeeper set to rejoin Celtic.

The Englishman left the Scottish champions five years ago to join the Saints in a £ 10m deal.

However, having fallen down the pecking order, Forester has struggled to find a club willing to take on his 70k-a-week wages.

However, according to the BBC and other national outlets, he will rejoin Neil Lennon's side if he passes his medical.
