Hotly-tipped singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding has praised La Roux singer Elly Jackson for her honest approach towards pop stardom.
Goulding - the winner of this year’s Brit Awards Critics’ Choice prize - told DS that she admires the current crop of British female artists for their “strength and ability to deal with everything this industry throws at them”.
Singling out Jackson from La Roux for particular praise, she said: “As much as she’s made out to be bitchy because she speaks out about other artists, at least she’s being honest and she’s often very right about things.
“You’ve got someone like her who’s an outspoken artist, which I prefer to someone like Pixie Lott who’s a fantastic singer but doesn’t say anything her label doesn’t want her to say.”
Goulding, who released her acclaimed debut single ‘Under The Sheets’ last month, also revealed that she admires the way fellow Brit Award winner Bjork has conducted herself during her recording career.
“She’s not had a straightforward career, but she’s one of the most celebrated artists on the planet and she’s carried herself with dignity,” Goulding said. “She’s not afraid of being different and she grows and grows and grows.
“I want to last a long time and to do that you have to keep your integrity, which is what Bjork has done.”
Ellie Goulding releases her next single ‘Starry Eyed’ on February 22.

Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys has revealed a few unlikely inspirations you’d never associate with the band.
As the ‘Crying Lightning’ rockers prepare for their arena tour this month, Turner has admitted the lads have been watching superstar pop singers such as Beyonce and Britney to give them ideas of how to handle such big crowds.
“I’d never even been to a gig in an arena,” he told The Sun. “But recently, knowing we’ve got this coming up I’ve been trying to dip my toe into that.”
“So I’ve seen Britney Spears at The O2, I saw Kylie the other week, and we went to see Beyoncé in Japan - to try and see how it pans out.”
“And so those are the only gigs in arenas I’ve ever been to, apart from like WWF Wrestling when I was six, but that doesn’t really count.”
Fans worried of how the divas will influence the Arctic Monkeys gigs shouldn’t be too concerned though, as Alex joked: “There’s not gonna be circus performers or bass solos. There’s not gonna be any horn sections.”

The British Phonographic Industry has serious complaints against telecom giant BT for neglecting the issue of illegal file sharing. The BPI has made its complaints after gathering IP addresses of about 100,000 illegal file sharers within the BT network. The organisation claims that BT is not being responsible enough in tackling a serious crime like net piracy for fear of losing customers.
British Telecom sources were ready to offer clarification following the accusation. A spokesperson acknowledged that early in the year, the BPI presented IP addresses of presumed illegal downloaders, but was quick to add that investigations into the activities of subscribers was a delicate issue. He explained that investigations, if carried out, would be highly intrusive, which might not go down too well with individual customers.
Geoff Taylor of the BPI spoke to The Mirror regarding this, saying that a company like BT must necessarily take its responsibilities seriously, considering that its service is being used for illegal activities. He added that customers identified with involvement in net piracy must be disciplined immediately.
BT sources explained that penalising customers for using the file-sharing tools might end up as being grossly unfair, as the same tools can be used for perfectly legitimate activities like playing online games.
Earlier this week, Your Money Government was informed by BT that if the company worked on its strategies to tackle web piracy, consumers might end up paying an extra amount of £24 a year as broadband bill.

Did you know that cd and dvd duplication is the best for quantities up to a thousand and for faster turn-around time?
The master disc is duplicated onto a high quality media to insure that the end product is appropriate with a large number of electronic playback devices. All master copies must be tested with a lot of playback devices prior to DVD duplication.
Multi-session is the name used for the different ways of scripting information in different increments. This is not suggested, though, since many CDR and CDRW drives do not contain the proper support for multi session CDs. On the other hand, most CDR drive, CD player, or CD Video player will playback the duplicated CDR.
There is no truthfulness to the rumor that DVD and CD duplication is not as dependable as CDs and DVDs that are replicated. In most cases, DVDs were created for the storage of audio, video and data, disregarding the current issues with the inability to playback with recordable DVDs. Audio CDs are the products of the data CD. Similar to many new technologies, there were problems to fix when the CD-Rs were mass generated. To place products in the stores quickly, a number of manufacturers produced inferior products which have had difficulty loading audio and keep the CDRom spinning in an audio only players.
Today, CDRs are generated with very strict guidelines. Even though there are still inferior brands of CDRs and DVDRs, selecting a reputable duplication company that uses only professional equipment and high-quality equipment will produce quality product. It is best to have the duplicated product is verified with the duplication equipment to match completely with the master copy.
CD/DVD duplication and replication both have their advantage when it comes to cost and quality. The customer can pick the best method of manufacturing their products. Sales people are there to help clients pick the best method for their quality demands against budget restrictions.

Have you ever done any of the following?
1. Made excuses for not practicing because you “didn’t have time”?
2. Practiced the same licks and exercises that you did last year?
3. Felt like you had hit a brick wall in your progress?
4. Felt unsure as to what to practice?
Unless your name is Steve Vai, chances are you’ve done at least one of the above!
They are all symptoms of having a lack of vision.
What do I mean by vision? Vision in
this context is having a clearly defined picture in your mind’s eye of how you would
like to play. It must be a crystal clear, exciting and inspiring picture!
Without an absolutely clear picture of what you would ideally like to sound like, you
will not know what you need to practice in order to realise that vision. You will also
probably lose the drive and motivation to practice daily for many years until you can
play like your vision. You may even start using the loser’s mantra which is “I don’t
have time to practice”.
Exercise One:
Think about how you would like to play in 10 years time. Close your eyes and try to
see yourself playing exactly how you would like to play. Write down what you see now.
Make sure that it is detailed. What techniques are you a master of?
What songs can you play? What bands are you in? How many students do you
teach? How does it feel when you play like you do?
Exercise Two:
Now write down what areas of your playing you will need to start
working on in order to reach your vision. What techniques do you need to start
practising? What chords do you need to learn? What music theory do you need to
start learning about? Do you need to start doing ear training? What books, teachers,
CDs and other tools will help you realise your vision? How much time every day do
you think you will need to practise in order to play like you want to play?
Exercise Three:
Spend 10 minutes a day for the next 30 days imagining yourself playing exactly
how you would like to play. Do this with your eyes shut. Don’t worry, it won’t make
you want to start eating tofu or go around the neighborhood hugging trees!
At the end of every time you do this, write down one small new detail about your
vision. By the end of 30 days you should be feeling so excited that you’ll want to practice 24/7!
